Day 32 at Home: Working from Photos, Working from Life

I’ll always love working from life far better than working from photos. But while we’re home and I can’t step out and draw in a busy place, this worked pretty well: I sketched with The Sneaky Artist in an Instalive session yesterday morning. We both sketched from the same photo reference and a bunch of people joined in and sketched along with us.

Here’s where I landed. You can see my photo reference and watch the session for a few more hours on my instagram stories.

And a quick sketch this afternoon, of my kids painting two discarded drawers from a broken dresser. We’re turning these into planters for the stuff in our garden patch that takes over the rest of it: mint and oregano . It’s nice to sit in the backyard on a warm day and paint…

I too would love to sit in a warm garden to paint! More cold with some snow on the way to us in Ohio. Still, your sketches inspire and encourage me to use what I have available to me. I can do that! On an overstuffed chair my cat sleeps. He will be my next project.

Hola, Suhita…. it’s always a pleasure to see your sketches, especially during this stressful time. I’d like to join you on the Thursday Instalive session next week. How do I do that? GRACIAS, rhoda
