It’s that time of the year again: Nola’s Irises are blooming. (Or were, a couple of weeks ago when I visited). There are people wandering the gardens admiring the flowers and taking copious notes and photographs. A lot of the note-taking is so they can decide which bulbs to order from Nola in the fall.

Iris are relatively easy to hybridize to create new variants, but this can only be done from seed. When you grow them from bulbs, like most people do, you get exact copies of the parent plant.

Gorgeous!! I have a question on the top sketch. Do you work the watercolor paints loosely first or the black marks first? Is there a video or class on this fabulous style that you do? I’d love to learn more.
