Drawing at a Sketching PlayLab Party

Paul Wang and I run online play-based sessions called Sketching PlayLab. We took a long break over the summer, when we both traveled and taught. But we are back, and to celebrate that, we held a little online “party” where we shared a few images to sketch form while we talked about our respective summer, shared new tools and techniques we are excited about and generally had a fun time with a room full of sketchers.

I sketched this piece using the tools you see in the photo, and I thought I’d share the reference image with you if you wanted to give it a try. I shot this photo on my last trip to India, which is very much on my mind with my Jan 2023 workshop in Mumbai coming up in a few months!

If you sketch this, I hope you have fun with it and use some super-vibrant media. Share it with me on social media or by email, I’d love to see your version!
