When I teach, I like to start my day by myself, with a sketch. Most days, my first sketch and cup of coffee were at Modern General Feed & Seed.

Downtown Subscription is Santa Fe’s oldest coffee shop,. A local artist suggested I visit. Their gorgeous gardens were the perfect place to start my day.

One day I ate at this diner just so I could draw the crew at work.

If I didn’t start the day with a sketch by myself, I tried to catch a quick one over lunch or dinner. One day it was the hot dog vendor in the town square.

Another time it was this quick little vignette over dinner.

A few more sketches from Santa Fe coming soon. If you missed the earlier posts in this series, they are here:
Santa Fe 2021: Part 4
These are so beautiful and convey so much movement/energy. The colours pop off the page when you save so much white.

I love how free your drawings are, they inspire me to loosen up and try a variety of materials, to just go for it.
