The New Coffeeshop

The New Coffeeshop is outdoors, in parking lots, under sun umbrellas.

This first sketch was made from my car because the air outside was still awful from the fires. I came home and looked at my sketch (left, below) and found it didn’t capture the grey heavy feel of the day. So I added a wash over it all.

A few days later, the sun came out and those umbrellas actually cast shadows. It was pretty amazing. Not quite blue skies yet, but still…

Our blue skies are back now. I’ll be using my Cobalt Blue pigment again soon.
