There isn’t much need for a sketch bag just now since I’m just drawing around my house. But it’s still nice to have everything in one place, ready to go. I’ve taken to leaving my art supplies out on a lap desk. When I spot someone I want to sketch, me and my lap desk migrate to wherever they are in the house and settle down to draw.

At other times, I draw at my desk , sometimes during online chats like this one with Nina. We chat a bit about the random things in our week, but mostly about the ups and downs and challenges of an everyday sketching practice. I always come back with new ideas of how to keep it fresh and find stuff to draw right now. If you’re looking for inspiration and ideas, a trip to Nina’s blog or instagram profile is always a good idea.

I have been trying to practice my drawing more frequently but when I see sketching like this it just blows my mind. How do you do it? Have you always been so good?

practice. it might feel like work at first but once it becomes a habit you learn to draw for the visceral pleasure of paper n pencil. and then you’re set because you won’t measure your art making time by the results.

I think that is part of my problem. I think way to much instead of letting my creativity take over.
