If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, I am having an Open Studio in San Jose with the artist Uma Kelkar today and tomorrow (Yes, Thursday September 26th and Friday September 27th, 2019) from 5pm to 8pm. Come drop by if you can! Neither Uma nor I have done one of these in years so there is a LOT of work packed into that little studio at prices we don’t usually sell our work for.
Here’s a sampling of some of the work I took down to the studio.
And then there are over a hundred original sketches from my Vintage Signs of San Jose project.
And that’s just my stuff-then there’s Uma’s work…
Here’s a shot from Uma’s instagram feed of the two of us as we hung up all the pieces.
And a writeup on Uma’s blog on the do’s and don’ts of attending an Open Studio. Any Open Studio, really, not just this one.
And in “other news” that somehow seems connected: I entered this plein air watercolor I painted in the Sierras this spring into a California Watercolor Association show a couple of weeks ago.
This is my painting titled Still. Deep.
And it won an honorable mention. Best of all, so did Uma’s piece (below, right) In the heat not a soul stirs.
That’s it from me for the week. You’re coming, right? See you at the studio today or tomorrow!
Good luck with the show! I really like the submitted piece!
