Ordinary Things

Back from the Usk Symposium a month ago. This is my first sketch back home. It’s my morning chai, one of the things I miss the most when I travel. You just can’t make a good chai without a gas burner. Playing with a new sketchbook and a really fun new paintset.

Back to my local coffeeshop, sketching everyday stuff. Brushpen, Watercolor, and a new travel brush.

Last weekend of summer break. At the pool. I’m glad I write all over my sketches, because there’s no way I’d remember, other than my notes, that we ate Cheetos and Creamsicles by the pool. I guess I like my junk food orange-colored.

More people sketches, waiting at the orthodontists office this time. Brushpen again. So good for a quick, calligraphic line. Use it on it’s side and you draw big shapes quickly.

This is from when I took only my computer and planner to the coffee shop. So I wouldn’t sketch, I’d do other work…Didn’t help, I drew in my planner because a pencil and a brushpen are more than enough.

I love travelling, I learn a lot from watching other sketchers work, then I come back home to my usual subjects and get to watch how things subtly change in my sketches. It happens every time. It’s strange, it’s disconcerting, it’s exciting.

  2. I have one of those Sennelier Aqua Mini palettes. Not my favourite watercolours as I love my Daniel Smith. But the Sennelier colours are not bad. What’s that travel brush you mentioned?

Orange-colored junk food! Maybe that’s how Trump got that skin tone! Ja ja ja (Mexican laughter)
