Life Drawing

When I don’t my make it to my Thursday Life Drawing session, (like this week) I really miss it.

So here’s some life drawing from previous weeks. Have I mentioned before how much I love gesture drawing? Minute long poses (the Bay Area Models Guild has awesome models) means the models can do some really dynamic stuff, and I love capturing it.

Slightly longer poses let you study form and shade.

And a 20 minute pose means I can pull out some watercolor!

More from me soon and a midpoint check-in on #30x30DirectWatercolor201 soon…

YES, I love the short, dynamic poses! There are a couple of figure drawing groups here in San Miguel. I’m also making plans to offer sessions here at my casa. I’ll let you know how that goes.

Suhita, I have been following your blog for quite a while and have enjoyed your Craftsy class “Figure Sketching Made Simple”. I’ve also been following Shari Blaukopf’s blog and the two of you have had the greatest influence on me over the last few years. We have not met but I have gotten to know Shari online and in person. I just wanted to let you know how wonderful I think your work is. These life drawings are terrific and full of energy. I discovered an earlier blog post from 2015 in which you mention many of the same feelings about life drawing as I have, the energy of working in a group, learning from other artists, the carryover to urban sketching, etc. If you have a chance, please have a look at my blog I’d love to hear from you.

    • Thank you for writing in , Jeff. Your work is lovely, I love that new ballpoint pen life drawing, especially. Such a sensitive line captured in a simple medium! I’ll be following along, glad I found your work!

Thanks for your reply. I’m very humbled by your kind words. I hope we have chance to meet some day but if not, it’s great to have the internet to communicate with.
