From almost anywhere in Berkeley, you can spot the Campanile. On a sunny Friday afternoon, campus is just the happiest place: classes done for the week, students finally meet up, chat and lounge on the grass. Makes for great people watching. And sketching.
Which is exactly what we did a couple of weeks ago in the People and Places workshop in Berkeley.
Am wondering what you’re using for the line work in these sketches.

Lois, the first and third sketch are with a Sailor Bent Nib pen. the middle one is a brushpen. I’m using them on rough watercolor paper here, so the line has a broken quality.

I’ve sketched there on campus a couple of times – a great location! and you’ve captured the setting with its action and so expressively. Love the way you let your colors bleed and mix on paper to connect the picture pieces.
