It’s been raining and raining. Yes, El Niño is here, and we really need the rain in California. But it doesn’t make for good painting weather. I just had to get out and draw yesterday, so I sat on the curb across the street between showers and painted my home.
Watercolor and CarbOthello pencil on coldpress paper.
Amazing painting!! Definitely gifted!

Preciosa la acuarela.
Pero deseo los textos en mi idioma, pues no sé nada de inglés.

Love it! You prove that there is ALWAYS something to paint, and that it can look good. Let me ask you: does your home have these many colors or did you use artistic license?

Rita, my house is pretty non-descript in how it is colored: a creamish color, and a dusty blue sort of trim. the main door, though is now ultramarine blue. But the great thing is that things look so different depending on how the light hits them… I’ve painted my house before, it looks different depending on the light. And my mood. 🙂

Sketching your own house — what a concept! I have yet to do mine. Familiarity breeds contempt. 😉

I love your style in this piece. Something about taking the ordinary (or what we often take for granted) and turning it into an art form really helps us to look through the world with new eyes.

I wonder if you noticed anything new. I sketched ours last week, just to see how it was different than the one I did a year and a half ago.

You make rainy days look pretty! Enjoy the goodness the rain brings to California.

Very nice. Have you made your house look taller than it is? Artistic license, perhaps.
