Not the most upbeat way to start a new year of blogging, I know. I love to travel. And I spent 10 (mostly) wonderful days in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico over winter break. But there’s some parts of travel, especially in high season, that are just not fun.
Like the long haul flights where every one of your family’s seats is in a different row. That’s my son, Nishant across the aisle from my seat. Not that he cared. He had a good book. And food.
And then there’s endless layovers. Add to that a kid who always gets sick on flights.
Best of all is ending a long haul with a 3.5 hour rent-a-car session.
The good part? It can only get better from here. Coming up. Sketches from Tulum, Akumal Bay, Coba, Isla Mujeras, Vallodolid, Chicen-Itza, Ek Balam, and Cancun.
I hope the trip back was kinder to you …

But those un-fun times are good opportunities for sketching, right?
What are you using? Pen and Pencil or two different colors of pens? They’re lovely.
I’m heading to the West side of Mexico soon, looking forward. It always seems more inspiring to sketch a new place.

I so enjoy seeing your travel sketches, even if they show the more mundane parts of traveling. Looking forward to your next entries! Long-haul flights always have me make one or two sketches before I go into an audiobook-sleep-coma.
