The trouble with coming back from an exciting trip is getting back to sketching the everyday. And to make it harder, everything literally pales in comparison to the madness and color of Mexico City. I feel like the color has gone out of my work. Hopefully it’s just the winter… so here are some post-trip sketches in the muted tones.
This jolly bunch of smokers meets outside Orchard Valley Coffee in campbell every afternoon. I was sitting inside the cafe, by the window. They came over to look at my sketches and stayed to chat.
Home. On a quiet, grey but not so cold day.
Long shadows and warm evening light at Almaden Coffee Roasting. And it’s only 3 in the afternoon.
There’s a lot of beauty in the muted tones and familiar places, as well. But the food…
Don’t you miss the food? 🙂
