We meant to just stop at the Moveable Feast ( http://mvblfeast.com/ )
Food Trucks on the way to the museum this morning, but it turned into a whole morning 🙂 … we never did make it to the museum. Moveable Fast is a street food revival movement. Food Trucks gather at a certain location. The website lets you know where. And you head down for some super food. Here is what we got to choose from today:
An The Go – Garlic Noodles
MoGo BBQ – Korean Mexican
Project Cupcake (new!) – Cupcakes
Sanguchon – Peruvian
Soulnese – Chinese Soul
The Wow – Silogs
The garlic noodles were incredible. And I had a fabulous Peruvian sandwich. Am regretting not bringing some Alfajores home. The nicest thing is that the food trucks all have GPS, so you could figure where they are anyday of the week, and go grab something if they’re in your neighborhood!
This is the Project Cupcake Food Truck. You choose your cupcake base, choose a flavor for your icing, and then have access to big containers of sprinkles and stuff. And you can top off your cupcake as generously as you want. My kids had cupcakes and I got a not-very-generous bite of a vanilla cupcake with raspberry icing. It was delicious.

I visited MOMA in NY recently, and I was wondering how you could have sketched AND painted in the midst of all the crowds!

Thanks Anjali, I did get told to put away my watercolor set when I did the Jackson Pollock. Otherwise, I’m quite immune to the crowds. I plonk myself down wherever and draw. Most people just work themselves around you if you do that…

Fantastic sketch–love the spontaneous colors, and how you didn’t worry about in-front-of or behind and just painted, for instance, the grill of the truck with the guy standing in front of it and the grill shows through. Really fun and lively.

melissa, i draw first, then color. and almost always, the vehicle- or building- stays and the people dont:) so that’s how I end up with coloring in stuff. It also conveys a contrast of the immobile, permanent stuff and the transitory stuff. I have been playing with that for a while now.

Oh I love this! My husband and I were standing near the cupcake truck when your husband showed the owner and his wife the sketch/painting – I could only see it from afar and was too shy to walk up to see it in detail. I could tell it was impressive based on their responses – and it is! Now I’m checking out the rest of your work. You are so talented!

This is fantastic! We’ve had face-painting at Moveable Feast before, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen truck-painting there!

I love this =) Ryan and I started Moveable Feast with the thought of bringing the community together for good food and bumping into neighbors. We are so thrilled that it has inspired some really good art. Thanks for sharing!

The sketch underneath is great, but the watercolours make it really stand out as a fun place to be. I’m looking forward to going to my first Moveable Feast this weekend, and hoping I can find something similar back in the UK when I go home next week.
