A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to be a part of an Art Show, called “ColorFest” ( my very first show) at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. While that was exciting in itself, I just couldn’t stand at my booth for 4 hours and smile. So I decided to do little “5 minute sketches” for anyone who wanted one. It was a lot of fun, and I got to chat with some really interesting people too.

Great idea. At the few art shows I’ve done, I always create rather than just sit and smile. It draws people in with curiosity. And, if nothing sells, I never see it as a waste of time!

Wow, that’s brave of you! I’ve learned to draw some things quickly but faces are hard for me (especially the darn noses) and I couldn’t get anywhere in 5 minutes. I think it’d be a good exercise in drawing to try it though.

Timaree, the trick to drawing a nose is to draw very little of it, just indicate it with light and shade in watercolor! And I’ve found that people are pretty forgiving about my getting a close resemblance:) But try it, it’s fun to see what choices you make when you work very quick. I find it keeps my work spontaneous.
