I thought of passing these two pieces off as Abstract Expressionism, but I think the little fish give it away.
Two watercolor sketches, done at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Yes, there are jellies and sharks and all those creatures that get so much more press, but to me the most fascinating stuff is the little tanks with swaying anemone, giant clams that open and shut randomly, little fish darting in and out of the seaweed and just the mad array of color and texture of all the little lifeforms.
Beautiful! I can only imagine the inspiration from the colorful underwater world!
