Hong Kong: 2 parts, 1 post

We stopped in Hong Kong on the way to India for a couple of days. And then, we had just a few hours in the city again on the way back. But what a packed few hours it was.

The view from our hotel. My friend Meenakshi who spent many years in Hong Kong made sure we were covered in every department: we had recommendations on places to stay, things to do, restaurants, street food, art galleries…

This is the view from our hotel room, pre-dawn, and just after the sun came up.

Across the river, in Kowloon, we wandered a huge, quiet park called Kowloon Park. It reminded me of Central Park: one moment you were surrounded by the madness of the city, the next you were far, far away from it…

Two little sketches, done at the Peak. The view from the top, seen through Hong Kong’s permanent haze.

And another of the cabs. I love the red and white cabs!

Nishant feeds himself noodles.

And one last sketch before we get on the plane to head back to San Jose… the kids ride in the ferris Wheel at Ocean Park. It’s that time of the evening when it isn’t totally dark, but the lights come on. The ferris wheel spins, I sketch quickly, to capture it in motion. Sometimes it helps when the ink in your pen is not waterproof…
