I love this little market in Mountain View. It’s narrow aisles, it’s collection of fantastic cheeses (and generous samplers), the tables and boxes all overflowing with produce, the handlettered cardboard signs, and the people who come here and carefully select every piece of fruit and vegetable they drop into their baskets. It feels like a real market, not a sterile supermarket chain.
I sketched this first piece about a month ago:
And then I went back and sketched these next pieces yesterday. I really enjoy the bustling activity and the riot of color and form and shape.
More sketches of Milk Pail Market on my flickr stream.

I used to work essentially across the street from the Milk Pail Market. And thinking about that has me thinking about Dittmer’s, which has me craving a sandwich. Too bad I’m 1000 miles away now!
See what your sketches can do?
They’re wonderful, and really capture the atmosphere.
Ursula, where are you now? Thanks for the comment, lovely to know my sketches triggered lots of other memories!
